Product Update: Improved DNS Resolution For Dedicated Servers
We’ve started rolling out an update to how DNS resolution works for dedicated servers across all Cherry Servers locations. As of today, we are introducing our own internal recursive DNS resolvers.
#What’s changing?
Until now, some servers were using public DNS resolvers or location-specific ones. In certain regions, this meant relying on external services such as 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1.
Going forward, dedicated servers will use the same internal DNS resolvers in every location:
10.100.0.53
10.100.0.54
These are internal IP addresses, available only within Cherry Servers’ private network. They are not reachable from the public internet.
#How does it work?
Each location runs its own local DNS resolver setup. Traffic is automatically routed to the nearest resolver, so DNS queries stay close to where your server is running.
Because the resolvers are internal, DNS traffic no longer leaves our network. This reduces external dependencies and adds an extra layer of protection against common DNS-related attacks.
#What this means for our customers
For customers, the main benefits are simple:
- Faster DNS lookups
- More consistent name resolution
- Better stability, especially in non-local regions
- Less reliance on public DNS services
This means quicker service discovery, faster application startup times, and fewer DNS-related surprises.
#What about existing setups?
The previous resolvers will continue to work for now. If you are using custom or public DNS resolvers, especially in non-local locations, we recommend switching to the new internal resolvers once the rollout is complete. This will give you the best performance and reliability going forward.
If you have questions or run into anything unexpected, our support team is ready to help.
