Cherry Servers Connects Frankfurt to MegaIX and NTT
Published on Nov 20, 2025 Updated on Nov 21, 2025

Cherry Servers has strengthened its European network once again: our Frankfurt Point of Presence (PoP) is now connected to both the MegaIX Internet Exchange and NTT, one of the world’s largest Tier-1 IP networks.

These upgrades expand our peering capacity, improve routing efficiency, and enhance network resilience for customers across Europe and beyond.

#What is MegaIX?

MegaIX is a virtual Internet Exchange “as-a-service” embedded in the Megaport global SDN, enabling networks to peer via a shared Layer 2 fabric with carrier-grade route servers, delivering lower latency, improved routing efficiency, and cost-effective connectivity.

#What is NTT?

NTT operates one of the largest Tier-1 global IP backbones, delivering highly reliable, low-latency transit across Europe, North America, and APAC. Their network is known for exceptional routing performance, diverse connectivity options, and global reach—supporting data-intensive workloads and latency-sensitive applications.

#Why does it matter for Cherry Servers customers?

With Frankfurt PoP now connected to MegaIX and NTT, this expansion is another step in strengthening our European backbone, improving network efficiency, and delivering even better performance for our global developer community.

Connecting to MegaIX and NTT enhances our network in several key ways:

  • #Stronger peering capacity

By joining one of Frankfurt’s high-performance Internet Exchanges, we can peer directly with a larger ecosystem of ISPs, carriers, and content networks. This boosts throughput potential and creates more efficient data paths for our customers across Europe.

  • #Lower latency, more efficient routing

Frankfurt is a major connectivity hub—and this new connection helps us reduce the hops and latency between Cherry Servers infrastructure and end users throughout the region. Expect smoother traffic flow, improved resilience, and faster response times.

  • #Greater network redundancy and reliability

Additional peering points mean better failover options and more consistent network performance. As we continue to grow our global presence, these distributed interconnects play a crucial role in maintaining high availability.

More network upgrades are on the way—stay tuned!
