IPv6 Support Now Available for Bare Metal Servers

IPv6 Support Now Available for Bare Metal Servers
Published on Aug 18, 2025 Updated on Feb 10, 2026

We’re glad to announce that IPv6 is now available on Cherry Servers Bare Metal infrastructure! This update empowers developers, businesses, and Web3 builders to take advantage of the next generation of internet addressing with improved scalability and efficiency.

#Why IPv6 Matters

IPv6 replaces IPv4 and solves the long-standing challenge of address exhaustion. It introduces:

  • 128-bit addresses → 3.4×10^38 unique IPs;
  • Simplified header format → faster processing;
  • Stateless address autoconfiguration (SLAAC) → plug-and-play networking;
  • Integrated IPsec → end-to-end security;
  • Elimination of NAT → direct peer-to-peer connections;
  • Improved multicast & anycast → efficient data distribution.

With IPv6, you gain more flexibility, stronger security, and future-ready infrastructure.

#IPv6 Availability

Currently, IPv6 is supported only on our Bare Metal servers and is rolling out across our global data centers:

  • ✅ Available now: Singapore, Stockholm, Frankfurt, Lithuania (select servers)
  • ⏳ Coming soon: Amsterdam, Chicago

For now, IPv6 is not supported on VPS, VDS, or Storage VPS services.

#What You Get

  • Free IPv6 subnets with every Bare Metal server;
  • /64 subnet allocation per server;
  • Ability to expand up to /56 if needed;
  • Easy configuration via Portal, API, and automation tools;
  • Manual setup guides for Ubuntu, AlmaLinux, and CentOS.

#Getting Started

You can enable and manage IPv6 directly from the Cherry Servers Portal. For detailed setup instructions, visit our updated Knowledge Base guide on IPv6.
